Testimony

I have been on couple of short term mission trips before but Uganda was very special for mel. I loved working together with Church leaders and youth group from Kampala. They taught us the culture, some words in their dialect but above all else it was a clear picture of God's big  family being united. We did everything together; we prayed together, worshipped together, ate together...we lived just as disciples did in Acts. I would love to go back and see some of the local people we have met.

Uganda was a great experience for me because it made me realise the blessings GOD has given not only me, but also those we encounted on our travels. From those at All Saint Church who we teamed up with, to the people we met, God has been working in their lives in a powerful way. It was inspiring to see the faith that those in difficult positions have in God. I'm thankful to God for using each and every one of us to love and encourage others.

Going to Uganda was a life changing experience for me. God taught me so much whilst I was out there....mainly because I had to rely on him for everything-little and big. I reached a new level of trust in him, which I probably wouldn't have attained staying in the UK because I needd him in different ways out there the need was much more physical and " in your face", the main one being basic safety and health ! The 2 things I take for granted the most from living in the UK. Although we came from differnt backgrounds and cultures, there was a real sense og family. We had the most important thing in common we all love Jesus. That unified us. It felt like home to me there, and I know it was because of our Ugandan brothers and sisters. Praise the LORD !

Mission Teams

Mission Teams are often life-changing. They bless the host, expose you to new cultures and help you catch God's heart for the nations.

We launched our 2013 teams at our Mission Sunday on 3 Nov 2012. Download our Mission Booklet by clicking on the image to the left, or see below for details about Mission Teams.

Come along to our Mission Teams Night, Monday 26 Nov 2012, where we will be presenting all the Mission Teams, answering questions, and hearing from those who went on a team last year.

Gothenberg, Sweden

Supporting the work of our friend, Johanna Buller, in her role as youth and student pastor of Fiskebäcks Missionsförsamling (a church in central Gothenberg) over the Easter weekend of 2013. As the first Mission Team from St Aldates to Johanna’s church, much of the trip will be about relationship building and finding out how we can serve the church community in the future. Come ready to learn about what God is doing in Sweden, to be challenged by the faith of our brothers and sisters in Gothenberg, and to be involved in prayer ministry and encouragement within the church. Ideal for people with a heart for Europe, and those interested in getting a bigger vision of what God is doing in Europe.

Cost: approx. £200

Hamburg, Germany

Join a ministry team, as we head over to support an international church for their first ‘weekend away’ as a congregation. Nicole and Kirk Sims, friends of St Aldates, are leading the church and have asked for a Mission Team to come over and support the weekend; helping to lead worship, lead kids/youth work, pray and teach. The trip will be over a weekend in early April 2013 and is ideally suited for anyone with a heart to spiritually bless our European family!

Dates: 5-7 April or 12-14 April

Cost: approx. £250

Paris, France

Following on from last year’s Mission Team to Paris, we are going to build on the work already started. Based at a church in the centre of Paris, where our Mission Pioneers, Francois & Gosia Danthon and Andy & Uta Buckler worship, we will be involved in neighbourhood evangelism, supporting church ministries to tourists, prayer, and getting a greater vision for what God is doing in France. This is an ideal mission team for people with a heart for France or Europe. French language helpful, but not essential.

Dates: Fri 31st May – Mon 4th Jun

Cost: approx. £150

East Asia

Sending an Aldates Mission Team for the first time to this region, this exciting new team will base themselves in a large, unreached University-city, with a team of long-term student workers. Living on or near the University campus, you will take language classes in the morning, and help lead campus outreaches to the students in the afternoons and evenings. People with a heart for students, evangelism and unreached people groups would be ideal for this mission team.

Dates: approx. 2nd – 17th April 2013

Cost: under £1000

Pakistan

Spending two weekends with our Mission Pioneers, Ashley and Christine Nunes, this Mission Team will be ministering to the church that they lead, through children’s work, worship and prayer ministry, in a vital work of encouragement to a church that faces persecution. During the week, there is opportunity for the Mission Team to create their own schedule, through travelling to other ministry that you are interested or have links with. This Mission Team is ideal for those with more experience in missions, or who are exploring a long-term call to the Muslim world.

Dates: second half of August 2013 for two weeks

Cost: flights £500

Zambia

We are sending a team to Kyeya Hope Foundation, Lusaka, Zambia. The team will be hosted by the Cornertone Worship Centre, where we will be serving the poor, orphaned children, the needy and the trainee teachers. One of the primary focuses of the team will be to deliver a “teaching the teachers” intensive course to local candidates who wish to teach in the orphanage; this will be developed by an Early Years Advisory teacher. We are therefore seeking a team to support this activity to include at least 1 other education practitioner to help with the delivery of the teaching programme. Other team members will need a heart for the poor and developing world; a love of children and be prepared to be engaged in either practical activities such as maintenance and painting of the facilities; arranging classes/games with the children; or street/prison evangelism.

Dates: Early July 2013

Costs: approx. £1000

Brazil

Following on from a successful 2012 Mission Team, we will be going back to Porto Alegre, south Brazil, to spend two weeks ministering to and encouraging a local Anglican church. Led ably by our experienced Mission Pioneers, Ruth and Efraim Hollingdale (based in Brazil) this Mission Team will be focused on befriending Brazilians, running children’s and youth clubs, leading worship, crafts, gospel dramas, and much more as we join in and support the life of this small yet vibrant church. Ideal for those with a heart for the poor, Latin America, or those wanting to try out mission for the first time.

Dates: Two weeks towards the end of July / beginning of August 2013

Cost: around £1200

Macedonia: Postgrads
For the third year running, a team of postgraduate students and academics will be travelling to Macedonia to support the work of Mission Partners, Kosta & Nada Milkov, based in Skopje. The trip, which is being organised in conjunction with the Oxford Pastorate Chaplaincy, will focus on three areas: prayer for Macedonia and its people; cultural engagement; and outreach events, primarily at the university. We’re looking for postgraduates and academics with a heart for Europe, for academic and cultural outreach and for the church, to join this team.

Betel Spain: Undergrads

Betel is an international charity that reaches out to the drug addicts and marginalised of society. Once again, a student team will be partnering with Betel in Madrid, living and working with those in the residential programmes. The trip will include the chance to visit Madrid’s rubbish dumps, witness shocking depravity and offer people the way out of it. As a student from one of our past trips has said, “I saw lives transformed on a scale I’d never dared pray for – amazing!”

Dates: June/July 2011

Cost: approx. £100-150

International Outreach Oxford & Al-Sadiqi Oxford
These two Oxford-based teams will be telling the good news of Jesus Christ to the thousands of international students who visit Oxford over the summer – many of whom would not have the opportunity to hear this message in their own countries. The Al-Sadiqi team specifically focuses on reaching out to Muslims, whilst the International Outreach will seek to reach all international students. Each team will have the same format of daily devotions, training, daytime street outreach and running an international café in the evenings. You’ll be part of a dynamic, fun and large team that will include members from around the world and you’ll stay with local Christian families.
