Profile: Missioner Pioneers
Jan and Karoline Sassenberg have always had the heart to serve the poor, and for years they have been involved in ACT! Pastorate, especially the Community Meal in St. Aldates Church. Last year, they felt God’s calling for them to go to Africa to serve the poorest among the poor. After some research and exploration, they felt drawn to a project in Sierra Leone with WMF (Word Made Flesh). This February 2009, they made the step in faith and moved to Sierra Leone with their two young children Talita (4 years old) and Elia (2 years old). They are now starting as interns to work with the youth and children in Freetown.
Jan has a law degree and was a social worker, and karoline is a nurse and midwife and has done a course in tropical nursing before moving to Sieraa Leone. They both have done one year of bible school in their early twenties and went to the Iris Ministry Mission School in Mozambique for 3 months.
They are in the Pastorate group with Ali Chevassut and Sally Lewis. They will appreciate lots of prayer support for their new start in ministry and life in Freetown.
