Mark and Jenny Rye, Cambodia
Profile: Mission Pioneers
Mark and Jenny Rye have been living and working in Cambodia since 2010. They are currently on leave but due to return to Cmabodia in January. Cambodia is one of the world's poorest countries, with around a third of the population living on less than $1 per day. Human trafficking is also a big problem there and although the causes for this are complex, poverty remains to be the most significant cause.
Mark is working as the principle of a Christian Middle School which was set up to provide education for the children of NGO workers, most of whom are involved in community development and anti-trafficking work. Jenny is focused on the protection and medical care of young children through her work with Children in Families, a Christian NGO set up to support family-based care of children through both kinship and foster care. Crucially, CIF recognised the need to provide care for poor families in crisis situations when there is increased risk of young children being neglected, abused, abandoned or trafficked.
Please pray for:
Mark and Jenny as they return to Cambodia in the New Year
Continued peace and stability (Cambodia is currently going through a time of political unrest)
Susutainable development and transformation of poor communities
Freedom for children and young people held in bondage and slavery
If you would like to receive Mark & Jenny’s bi-monthly email updates, join their Oxford prayer group, or support them financially please contact the mission team. They are hugely grateful for the love and support of their family & friends here at St. Aldates
