In July this year, a team of five ladies from St Aldates visited our Mission Partner Sue Woodcock and her church in Sabadell, Spain (near Barcelona). The church had asked us to come and spend a week with them to teach them about 24/7 prayer and to run a prayer room.

The beginning of the week was spent learning about the city and the Catalan region, as well as getting to know people from the church; in the second part of the week, we set up the prayer room and prayed! (The room was open for 38 hours.)

Together with the church, we learnt a huge amount about seeking the Lord in prayer. There were some hard moments, particularly going out into the city centre to invite people to the prayer room and finding that many people very unwilling to talk about God. However, we also were really excited when a guy whom we had met out in the streets turned up to pray—it had been one of our prayers for the mission that God would meet with both believers and non-believers in the prayer room.

The week ended with Spain winning the World Cup, which was a exciting finish to a great trip (even though a lot of Catalonians were not actually too keen on Spain winning!)

Having stayed in contact with Sue and the church since, they are determined to continue with future 24/7 prayer events, to bless the prayer life of the church and its members, which is an encouraging outcome of the trip. Sadly, Sue has since been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently receiving treatment in Barcelona. Please keep her and the church in your prayers, asking God for complete healing.
